Blast from the Past: Kebun Baru Food Centre

On a recent Sunday morning, my brother and I decided to visit Kebun Baru Food Centre. The food centre was originally built in 1976 to serve the residents living in the area and is home to many stalls whereby the hawkers have been there for decades.

We joined one of the longest queues for piping hot sheng mian from De Ji Cooked Food. The noodles did not disappoint. They were springy and cooked in a flavoursome pork and ikan bilis broth. I also loved the fact that there was a generous helping of pork liver!

We waited 45 min for the noodles and to sustain our growling stomachs after a gym session, we had coffee and kaya toast from the stall next to it. Excellent kopi O and the baguette with homemade kaya and butter are definitely worth a try!
