Top of the world

Hubby D and I celebrated my birthday at artisanal French restaurant Jaan during the week. It was relaxing to enjoy a sumptuous degustation lunch while looking out onto the Marina Bay area from the 70th floor. December is notorious for its rainy weather but the skies were thankfully clear in the two hours that we spent at the restaurant. There was an elderly couple at the table next to us whose son had arranged for them to dine at Jaan to celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary. How sweet.

Some of the highlights of the menu included smoked organic eggs that had been cooked for 55 minutes and wild caught Atlantic mackerel. We also had this divine mushroom tea and kurobuta pork in a light yet flavorsome broth.

It's been a while since Hubby and I went out on a date so it was really nice that we got to spend some time together. Of course a birthday celebration is not complete without the kids, and we brought home a complimentary chocolate mousse cake from Jaan to celebrate with our little ones.
