Halloween

It's Halloween and we got invited to a friend's place near Holland V to celebrate fright night. Brimming with enthusiasm was of course Kieran who could not contain his excitement when Mummy managed to dig out a Spider Man suit that his cousin had outgrown for the occasion. Initially shy in a house full of strangers, Kieran quickly warmed up and joined the other kids outside who were getting ready to go around the neighborhood trick or treating.

The children were excited as some of the neighbors had bothered to dress up (we saw pirates, witches and skeletons) and had decorated their homes in a ghoulish manner for the occasion. Halloween -- essentially a Western tradition -- is still not widely celebrated in Singapore although it has become popular in recent years. Given that the estate is made up of a mix of locals and expats, it is not surprising that celebrating Halloween has become a yearly affair.

By the end of the night, Kieran had filled his pumpkin basket to the brim and had also consumed several candy bars (we loosened the reins for this one special night).

Eli was too young to join in the fun but enjoyed himself nonetheless. He was beaming that night and basking in the limelight as uncles and aunts cooed over him. It was a wonderful night out for the family!
