Chanced upon a fair selling Korean products at my neighborhood mall one weekday and picked up a packet of dangmyeon (sweet potato noodles). Decided to make jap chae, which is essentially dangmyeon tossed with a variety of veggies such as carrot, spinach and shitake mushrooms. Sesame oil, sugar and soya sauce are used to flavor the dish and toasted sesame seeds are added for the final touch. Jap chae is usually served as a side dish and can be eaten hot or cold.
A packet of dangmyeon (500g) was more than enough for our family and can easily serve a party of ten and above.
Check out a jap chae recipe here.
